Eco-friendly reusable tote bag with “Maklouba” graphic by Bethlehem based artist, Ayed Arafah. “Maklouba” is named after the Arabic word for flipping a traditional spiced rice dish “upside down”onto a serving platter. Once it’s upside down, the ingredients layered at the bottom of the pot – such as eggplant or cauliflower with chicken or lamb – are on top when served. The graphic includes Arafah’s own mother’s maklouba recipe in Arabic script where the rice layers would otherwise be depicted.
